DFA is a rock band from Fairfax, Virginia that started in the Fall of 2000 when Joey, Jon, Matt, and Robert got together in Jon's basement to jam. The song "El Scorcho" inspired the boys to cover Weezer songs. Things really got moving when Joey moved to a sweet house on the hill, with his basement perfectly set up for practice space. Complete with wet bar, mini fridge, back door, and outdoor Jacuzzi. With the holiday season beginning, the band decided to arrange a Christmas themed concert for their first performance. Songs performed were: Angels We Have Heard on High (rock style), Weezer's Christmas song, Funky Deck the Halls, and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (hardcore). Since then, DFA has been practicing, and preparing for the spring season. The first hurdle to jump was equipment. Buying mics, stands, cymbals, and guitar straps, and borrowing stands and amps have all been very demanding and expensive. DFA stood for a couple things, but now it officially stands for "Don't Forget ALF." Our influences are mainly Weezer and Ozma. We have been playing together since November, and hope to start playing a lot of local shows soon.

Ever since our last show at the battle of the bands in June, we've gone our seperate ways (some more than others) but the DFA sprit lives on. Joey's at JMU in middle-Virginia, Jon's still in good-ole Fairfax trying to figure out what to do, Matt's also in middle-Virginia at the prestigious University of Virginia, and Roberts cast himself down to the sticky climates of Orlando, Florida at the University of Central Florida. We often discuss the future of DFA, but as of now it is undetermined. However, we are determined to keep DFA going and look out for us in the future at a city near you!
